Project Pyaas – A Sahadeva Foundation Initiative
Because no one should suffer in silence from thirst or hunger.

How it all began

A few days ago, our team visited PMCH Hospital in Dhanbad for some of our regular social work. As we arrived, we noticed a small crowd gathered outside the hospital gate. Curious and concerned, we went closer and what we saw broke our hearts.

An elderly man, around 60 to 65 years old, was lying on the ground- weak, disoriented, and dehydrated under the harsh summer sun. We soon found out his wife had been admitted to the hospital, and he was there alone, taking care of her with no one to look after him.

They had come from a far-off village, with barely enough money for medicine, let alone food or water. This was not an isolated case, stories like theirs are sadly common at government hospitals across the city.

Why Project Pyaas

Years ago, the Sahadeva Foundation had started a meal distribution campaign for patient attendants. But due to lack of funding, we had to pause that effort. This summer, seeing the urgent need once again, we knew we had to act and Project Pyaas was born.

We started by distributing lassi and bananas, simple, nourishing, hydrating essentials to those who need it the most.

How We Work

A few years ago, we ran a humble meal distribution project at government hospitals offering food to patient attendants who often went hungry while caring for their loved ones. It made a difference. But like many good things, we had to pause it due to lack of funds.

This summer, we felt the urgency once again — the heat is relentless, and the need is real. So we started small, with what we could manage:

Cool lassi to fight dehydration

Bananas to restore energy

And wherever possible, buttermilk, fresh fruits, or clean water

Every day, our team visits high-need areas like PMCH and other government hospitals, reaching out to patient attendants, daily wage earners, elderly people, and anyone battling the summer sun without help.

We see them sitting for hours, often in silence-exhausted, worried, and without a single nutritious meal.

How You Can Help

Each glass of lassi, each banana, each serving of buttermilk you help provide is more than just food —
it's an act of compassion.

It brings relief to a caregiver who hasn’t eaten all day while looking after a loved one in the hospital.
Without this small support, many go hungry during their hardest moments.

The Cost of Care:
₹25 = 1 Nutritional Support Pack (Lassi + Banana or Buttermilk)
₹7,500 = 300+ People Served in a Day

Every rupee helps bring comfort, dignity, and strength to someone silently struggling.
Your support matters  now more than ever.

Through Project Pyaas, we aim to bring small moments of relief  and a lot of dignity to those who need it the most.

This summer, be the reason someone feels seen, helped, and cared for.
Support Project Pyaas. Join the journey. Share the care.
